The authors emphasize that both methods are validated and with respect to radiopaque markers a method with marker ingestion over six days should be preferred.

Vyšetrenie tranzitu hrubým črevom pomocou Transit-Pellets sa často využíva u pacientov trpiacich chronickou zápchou, chronickou hnačkou a/alebo syndrómom dráždivého čreva (IBS). Tento test slúži na vyhodnotenie času tranzitu a toho, ako rýchlo alebo pomaly sa potrava/stolica pohybuje črevami. Pri testovaní sa počas šiestich dní perorálne konzumuje sedem kapsúl, z ktorých každá obsahuje malé markery, ktoré sa dajú vizualizovať pomocou röntgenového zobrazenia. Konzumácia markerov je bezpečná, markery sa vylúčia vo výkaloch a možno ich bezpečne zlikvidovať spláchnutím do toalety.

Transit-Pellets method a Transit-Pellets röntgenové markery (radiopaque markers) možno použiť na:

  • meranie rýchleho, normálneho a pomalého tranzitu hrubým črevom;
  • rozlišovanie medzi zápchou s pomalým tranzitom a zápchou s normálnym tranzitom;
  • identifikáciu dysfunkcie segmentov hrubého čreva u pacientov so zápchou;
  • rozlišovanie medzi hnačkou s normálnym a rýchlym tranzitom;
